Pittsburgh’s first and only hot-sauce showdown lands in Lawrenceville. On Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 7:30 pm, ten competitors go wing-to-wing at New Amsterdam in the inaugural Rivers of Fire Hot Wing Competition, hosted by Lisa of Hammajack Heat Co. This ticket is your seat at the table — and your shot at the title.

The Challenge

Every competitor takes on 12 wings. To finish the challenge, each wing must be cleaned completely — all of the chicken eaten from the bone, within the allotted time.

• Wings 1–10: each coated in a different hot sauce from 10 local vendors — the same makers featured at Lisa’s Rivers of Fire festival on October 10. Experience an incredible variety of flavors while the heat steadily builds.
• Wings 11 & 12: the grand finale — both drenched in an exclusive, extra-hot sauce created by Pepper Boy Pepper Co. just for this competition. You haven’t had this sauce anywhere else.

The Prize

There can only be one champion. The inaugural Rivers of Fire Hot Wing Champion takes home:

• Two complimentary tickets to Pittsburgh’s Rivers of Fire on October 10
• A custom Pittsburgh’s Rivers of Fire–branded leather hot sauce holster, handcrafted by Hot Sauce Holsters LLC (one of this year’s festival vendors)
• Ultimate bragging rights as the first-ever Rivers of Fire Hot Wing Champion

Tie Breaker

If more than one competitor finishes all 12 wings within the allotted time, the winner is decided in a tie-breaker — which may involve eating super-hot peppers, with the last competitor standing claiming the title.

Good to know

This is meant to be an amateur competition — it is not open to members of the International League of Fire or others well known for their heat tolerance. Think you’ve got the speed, determination, and heat tolerance to be crowned champion? Grab your spot and prove it.
