YinzBinz & YinzMart

Two Pittsburgh Brands. One Yinzer Spirit.

A formal coexistence agreement between YinzMart.com and Mac.Bid’s YinzBinz — because in Pittsburgh, we build each other up.

Cooperation Over Competition

How two “Yinz” brands chose to work together instead of against each other

YinzMart.com has been Pittsburgh’s online marketplace since January 2018 — and has held U.S. Trademark Registration No. 5,591,860 for YINZMART.COM ever since. When Mac.Bid launched the YinzBinz Pittsburgh discount bin stores in 2023, YinzMart’s founder Jurgen Koster had a choice: fight the trademark, or find a way to work together.

He chose cooperation. Instead of opposing Mac.Bid’s trademark application or dragging another Western PA business into a legal battle, Jurgen reached out in good faith. The result was a formal Trademark Coexistence and Consent Agreement — a legally binding commitment that both YinzBinz Pittsburgh and YinzMart.com can thrive, side by side, without stepping on each other’s toes.

It’s the kind of deal that doesn’t make headlines, but it says everything about the values behind YinzMart.com: we’re here to build businesses up, not tear them down. There’s enough room in Pittsburgh for all of us.

The Agreement

A formal YinzBinz Pittsburgh and YinzMart coexistence commitment

On February 26, 2025, YinzMart.com founder Jurgen Koster and MAC Discount, LLC executed a formal Trademark Coexistence and Consent Agreement. Under this agreement, Koster — as the senior trademark holder — consented to Mac.Bid’s continued use and registration of the YINZ BINZ mark for their physical retail stores.

🤝 Key Terms of the Agreement

Both parties formally acknowledge there is no likelihood of confusion between their marks. YinzBinz operates exclusively as brick-and-mortar retail — they will not use the YINZ BINZ mark for online sales. YinzMart.com continues as Pittsburgh’s dedicated online marketplace. Both parties agree to cooperate in good faith and will not oppose each other’s trademarks. The agreement is governed by Pennsylvania law and extends throughout the United States.

This agreement didn’t happen because a court ordered it — it happened because YinzMart believes Western PA businesses are stronger when they support each other. As the senior trademark holder, Jurgen could have blocked Mac.Bid’s application entirely. Instead, he extended his hand. That’s how business should work in Pittsburgh.
